Upper Limit Pompano Tournament 2026

Tournament Overview

The Upper Limit Pompano Tournament, one of the exciting Florida fishing events, runs from April 1–30, 2026. This is a full month for anglers to build their six-fish Florida pompano limit and climb the leaderboard. The entry fee is $40 per angler, and there’s no age limit to participate.

Weigh Station

Panhandle Salt, located at 13595 Perdido Key Dr., Pensacola, FL 32507, will serve as the official weigh station for the tournament.

Rules & Regulations

To join the fun of this Pompano fishing tournament, register and pay the $40 entry fee. Fishing can begin on April 1, 2026. Participants must submit their catches in person at Panhandle Salt.

All fish must be weighed within 48 hours of being caught, and remember: NO FROZEN FISH is allowed. Only surf fishing is permitted; bays, boats, kayaks, jetties, and piers are off-limits.

Unless someone pulls the old rabbit-out-of-the-hat trick in the next 4 hours, these anglers will take the Upper Limit. This month-long event kicked off on April 1st, and I’m happy to say this has been our biggest Upper Limit to date. I can already see this event continuing to grow each season, and before we get to the likely winners, I want to give a few honorable mentions.

Aaron Carlson put in his time on the beach and will be walking away with 17.3 pounds. Aaron is also from out of town, which gave him a bit of a disadvantage. He’s not roaming these beaches daily like the locals.

Spenser Brown finished with 16.82 pounds and went hard, fishing most days either before or after work. I’d also like to mention that Spencer was part of a bruiser being caught while running a trip, which would have easily pushed him into the 3rd-place position. He was honorable and did the right thing by not weighing it in.

Jason Snider was one of the first on the board and could only fish about one session a week. 16.62 pounds is a great number when you’re only putting in about 5 hours a week. There was no picking the “perfect day and time” for Jason. He made the most of the little time he had.

Now for the likely winners:

1st Place: Miles Warren will be taking 1st place with 21.14 pounds. That’s an average of 3.52 pounds per fish. Impressive to say the least.

2nd Place: Larry Grossman at 20.60 pounds will take 2nd place. Larry is always a top runner in these events and continues to be a force to beat.

3rd Place: John Daughtery takes 3rd with 17.66 pounds. John was probably the angler I saw the most in and out of the shop. He wanted it, and he earned it.

Big Fish: Justin Sawicki is holding Big Fish with a 4.08-pounder. Justin also wins the award for most theatrical weigh-in. He had total strangers sticking around to see the fish, weighed the smaller ones first, then dramatically grunted as he pulled the 4-pounder from the cooler. At one point, I thought he was going to ask for assistance getting it onto the scale. Well earned, buddy. Great catch.

If these numbers hold, winners can come by tomorrow to pick up cash and prizes donated by all our sponsors. All winners will also receive a free admission ticket to the NOEoutdoors Expo coming in January 2027 at the Pensacola Fairgrounds.

These are not the final numbers. You never know what might happen in the next few hours. Potential winners: keep your fingers crossed.
